Adobe Lightroom Returns To The Mac App Store

Adobe Lightroom returns to the Mac App Store. This one is a surprise. Why? Surprising because Adobe has to pay 30% of their sales to Apple in order to be on their online store. Another surprise is the amount of Adobe Creative Cloud storage users will get with their subscription: 1 TB. Compare this to the 20 GB users get when subscribing directly with Adobe on the photography plan. Interesting to note that Adobe is dropping the “CC” from the product marketing name. Also, notice that we are not talking about the Classic here. For this one, you’ll have to go direct with Adobe to get it on a subscription basis.

Adobe Lightroom is the grand public version of their professional Lightrrom version. This is the cloud-based version of Lightroom if you wish. You can use the same Adobe Lightroom application on Adobe Creative Cloud web site.

What does this mean for actual Lightroom users with photography plan ? Really nothing. If you are a subscriber of the Adobe Photography plan, you get 20 GB of storage but you also get Photoshop. You can download Lightroom here if you are not already a user of it. You’ll get a free 7 day trial period.
