Seems there was many photographers who didn’t like the fact that Apple was granting itself full rights on people’s submitted photos to the challenge without any retribution… only some exposure on billboards around the world and other places. I wasn’t one of them. I couldn’t care much.
I always thought this challenge was all about being open to everybody, not only pro photographers. The whole idea it seems is that, if a “normal” person takes a really great photo with a simple iPhone, even an older model like an iPhone 6S or the brand new one, the iPhone XS Max, this would in itself be interesting… having pro photographers all over the place would kill the spirit of the challenge. For once, Apple chose not to be elitist. Doomed if you do, doomed if you don’t.
Apple changed their mind.
