When iPhone Camera is Compared to Pixel’s Camera

Interesting subject here. In this short piece from Matt Birchler: Why I Personally Prefer the iPhone’s Camera, I was surprised how close Apple’s competition are thse days. In the specific picture used for comparison, yes the iPhone camera seems to capture more details in the shadows but overall the picture has a much colder tone than the one from the Pixel’s camera. I don’t think the latter is the right one but I would have liked a warmer look from the iPhone camera.

In another piece from the same author, Round 3: Night Sight vs iPhone XS, Pixel’s camera performs much better in low light situations. This is quite impressive. You can search on the web for more examples. As a leader in computational photography, I find it surprising that Apple didn’t come up first with these capabilities in low light.
